One of the things I got rid of today was a large plastic and cloth sunflower. I bought this in 1993 or so, and then when I ended up ill and in hospital over and over the sunflower always came with me. Mainly because it was the symbol of one of the main Irish depression charities for a while. Hospitals disapprove of you bringing too much crap in but the staff all LOVED the sunflower.

But for years now it has languished in my bedroom and is falling to bits. I decided - I can keep my memories, but I don't need a physical reminder. And I'm not that ill any more, and am unlikely to be again. I don't need something to grab and hold on to to keep going, literally.

So bye bye sunflower. Thanks for the inspiration and help.
